IFPEN offers a research internship on modeling and optimizing electric vehicle (EV) charging with Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) flexibility.

The internship focuses on developing a simulation and optimization framework to evaluate the impact of EV charging on energy systems under various sources of uncertainty, including mobility patterns, electricity prices, and renewable generation. The objective is to better understand how electric mobility affects local and global energy balances, grid constraints, and system flexibility. Depending on progress and interest, the work may also explore coordination strategies for EV fleets, charging operators, or large populations of users, assessing their potential to enhance system efficiency and support renewable integration.

The internship combines data-driven modeling, optimization, and control, with opportunities to apply decentralized or game-theoretic methods for large-scale EV integration. This work will contribute to developing practical tools and insights for managing the growing interaction between electric mobility and the energy system.

Profile: Master’s (M2) or final-year engineering student in automatic control, or optimization, with solid skills in Python and an interest in energy systems and electro-mobility.

More information about the internship can be found in the attached PDF.
